Description: A terrestrial usually one or two-leafed American orchid also an endangered Florida native found mostly in well shaded hammocks. It blooms December - February on a single spike held well above the dark green leaf. The two inch blooms have light green base color with a bright white lip.and sepals. Single leaf new growths emerge about a month after seed capsules dehiss usually in April and the new leaf may replace the older single leaf that can die over the summer. My plants bloomed 11 months out of flask - amazing!
Culture: I grow in four inch plastic pots containing sandy loam with a chopped oak leaf humus layer dusted on top of the soil. So far, I have grown out of flask in our air conditioned porch adjacent to a glass slider. I water three times per week and do not fertilize.
