Description: The extreme South Florida native species was found growing on trees close to the ground and often collected to the point that it is very rare in Florida today. A small epiphytic plant with narrow green oblong-lanceolate leaves 4 to 6 inches long emerging from the apex of the pseudobulbs. Flowers on the plants from Peru I have grown are about and inch wide and red with a white lip. One disconcerting characteristic discovered is that pollina are not sticky and immediately fall to the ground when being touched instead of sticking to the toothpick.
Culture: Medium light, weekly watering and little fertilizer work for me. I grow them in fine bark mix and clay pots.
