I acquired a bunch of orchids and I am learning--slowly.  I have been nursing this particular phalaenopsis and was happy to see new leaf growth over the past couple of weeks.  Today I found this black rot (?) on one of the new leaves.  Please help me identify the problem and teach me how to treat it.  Not sure if it matters but I live in northern Florida and I keep my plants outside.  I try not to over water but this almost looks like water sat on the leaf.

Thanks in advance!

Penny

Hi Penny, It definitely looks like rot. You should cut around the leaf before it spreads further. Are your plants getting irrigation or rain?
