In bead form; common ingredient in Europe; an insulating material, extremely light, inert, does not saturate or rot, retains moisture on surface only; used in a mix with peat moss, sand and sphagnum moss. AU76-73

Pieces are irregular, one-sixteenth to one-twelfth of an inch in diameter; in Hawaii used best as one part to three or four parts hapuu; the wetter the area the more polystyrene. P68(l)-14+

POLYSTYRENE: In Potting Mix Put it through a kitchen meat grinder if you have one, or cut it up with a knife, to produce granules or cubes and mix it 50/50 with bark for a good potting mix to achieve a non-soggy condition; a first choice is to use it for drainage. OA82-7 0
