Control: they are difficult to eradicate because their coat protects them from contact poisons; they feed on delicate new shoots and seedling growth; use a carbaryl insecticide such as a Sevin dust; trap them in inverted pots filled with hay or straw, or in half potatoes scooped out and laid flat side down on benches; Paris green (handle with caution) and bran at four oz. to one lb. bran spread under the pots.
