Orchid Species: Leptotes tenuis

Leptotes tenuis is an orchid species identified by Rchb.f. in 1865.
ORIGIN: Found in Espirito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Minas Gerais states of Brazil in mountains with nightly mists at elevations of 700 to 1000 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Miniature sized, warm to cool growing, terete leafed, epiphyte with small fusiform-cylindrical pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect to slightly curved, fleshy, subterete, acute, deeply grooved above leaf that blooms on an apical, pendant, 1 1/4 to 2 [3 to 5 cm] long, one to 2 flowered inflorescence with nodding, fragrant flowers that arises in the winter and spring. Mount on tree fern and give cool to warm temperatures with light shade, water while growing, less when not and high humidity.
