Orchid Species: Specklinia microphylla

Specklinia microphylla is an orchid species identified by (A.Rich. & Galeotti) Pridgeon & M.W.Chase in 2001.
ORIGIN: Found in Mexico, El Salvador and Nicaragua and Colombia in wet lowland rainforests as a miniature sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte occurring at elevations of 30 to 400 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Found in Mexico, El Salvador and Nicaragua and Colombia in wet lowland rainforests as a miniature sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte occurring at elevations of 30 to 400 meters with a very short ramicaul enveloped below by a single, white, scarious sheath and carrying a single, apical, very small, tridenticulate apically, ovate, gradually rounded below into the short, petiolate base leaf that is held close up against and hugging the tree trunk and blooms in the summer and fall on a short to 1 [to 2.5 cm], successive [4 to 6] flowering inflorescence arising on new and old leaves.
FLOWER SIZE: 1/4 inch [0.6 cm]
