ORIGIN: Found in Assam, northeast India, Nepal, Bhutan, Sikkim, Myanmar, Thailand, peninsular Malaysia, Yunnan China, Vietnam, Java in mixed, broad-leafed forests on rocky humus rich slopes at elevations of 340 to 2400 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Small to medium sized, hot to cool growing terrestrial or as an epiphyte on forest margins with a branching rhizome giving rise to erect, 12 to 24 [30 to 60 cm] long, unbranched, slender in the lower half, slightly thickened in the upper half stems carrying many, grasslike, chartaceous, tapering gradually from base to apex, unequally rounded-bilobed apically leaves that blooms in the summer on a terminal, subcapitate, short, densely several to many flowered inflorescence.
