ORIGIN: Found in Burundi, Rwanda, Zaire, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Swaziland and Transvaal South Africa by the banks of streams, among rocks of forest floors and as an epiphyte on mossy trunks and branches at elevations of 1300 to 2800 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Small to medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial or epiphyte with ellipsoid tubers giving rise to a slender, erect, glandular pubescent stem carrying a single [rarely 2], basal, erect to spreading, lanceolate to oblanceolate, acute, glabrous, mottled green leaf and a few sheaths above that blooms in the late winter and spring on a 1.2 to 4 [3 to 10 cm] long, densely many [4 to 22] flowered, glandular pubescent inflorescence with lanceolate, glandular-ciliate bracts.
