ORIGIN: Found in Cuba in rocky serpentine soils in pinelands forests at elevations of 700 to 1000 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Large to giant sized, warm growing terrestrial with tuberous, subterranean, conical, horizontally flattened stems carrying a single, usually present at flowering, linear to linear-lanceolate, acute leaf that blooms in the mid fall through winter on a terminal, erect becoming vinelike when in contact with surrounding vegetation, solitary, successively 5 to 12 flowered inflorescence with ovate floral bracts.
