ORIGIN: Found in south Yunnan Province of China, Assam, eastern Himalayas, Nepal, Sikkim, Thailand, Myanmar and Vietnam in humid, mossy, mixed and coniferous forests on mossy branches of old dwarf, gnarled trees and in semi-deciduous and deciduous dry lowland forests and savana-like woodlands as an uncommon, creeping, small sized, warm to cold growing bifoliate epiphyte at elevations of 800 to 2700 meters on limestone outcroppings.
DESCRIPTION: An uncommon, creeping, small sized, warm to cold growing bifoliate epiphyte at elevations of 800 to 2700 meters on limestone outcroppings with crowded, globose to ovoid-cylindric pseudobulbs carrying two apical, deciduous, oblong-lanceolate to oblong-oblanceolate, flaccid, subacute, petiolate base leaves and blooms after it drops the deciduous leaves in the late summer on a basal, erect to arcuate then pendant, 10 [25 cm] long, densely many flowered, racemose, glandular pubescent inflorescence with distant, glabrous, lanceoate, acute sheaths and broadly ovate floral bracts and carrying small, hairy, strongly fragrant [cinnamon] flowers held way above the leaves. This species needs a short dry season before it will bloom properly.
