ORIGIN: Found in southeastern Brazil on moss covered scrub on wind-blown, exposed mountain ridges at elevations around 1500 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Mini-miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with a tough, woody rhizome giving rise to clustered, squat, almost round pseudobulbs carrying a single, oblong, deeply keeled, dark green, stiff leaf that blooms in the late summer and early fall on a stiff, basal, ascending then abruptly descending, 10 [25 cm] long overall, rachis at a right angle to the peduncle, to 4.4 [11 cm] long, successively 1 to 2, several flowered inflorescence carrying alternate, small, bilaterally compressed flowers.
