Orchid Species: Bulbophyllum sasakii
(This name is currently accepted by Kew.)
Bulbophyllum sasakii is an orchid species identified by (Hayata) J.J.Verm. in 2014.
ORIGIN: Found in Taiwan near Mt. Arisan and often cited.
DESCRIPTION: Synonym of Sunupia andersonii. I can assure you that I have checked this out. Jaap Vermeullen at Leiden has seen and verified. The flower is fairly unique and is very easy to distinguish as something new and not even approximate to Sunupia andersonii. What a great flower, little information available. This miniature sized, orchid has elongate-ovoid pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, oblong-linear, round, shortly bilobulate, attenuate to the pseudobulb below leaf that blooms in the summer on a basal, erect, 1.2 [3 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence.
