Orchid Species: Bulbophyllum stenophyton
(This name is currently accepted by Kew.)
Bulbophyllum stenophyton is an orchid species identified by (Garay & W.Kittr.) Schuit. & de Vogel in 2011.
ORIGIN: Found in Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Horn Islands and Vanuatu in hill country on trunks of large trees at elevations of 800 to 900 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Miniature to small sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with a subcylindric to narrowly ovoid and conical, attenuate, green to yellow green, ventrally deeply channeled pseudobulb that is partially enveloped basally by a sheath when young, and carrying a single apical, erect, short and semi-terete petiole, linear, keeled, acute leaf, that has a basal, slender, 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 [40 to 45 mm] long, single flowered inflorescence that holds the delicate, diurnal flower at mid-leaf.
