ORIGIN: Found in northeastern India, Myanmar, China, Taiwan and Vietnam in broad leaved mixed forests and along streamsides and valleys at elevations of 1000 to 3000 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Medium to just large sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with a wavy, fusiform, fibrous rhizome with roots widely spaced and giving rise to 2 to 3, plicate, prominently 5 veined below, narrowly elliptic to oblong-elliptic, acute to acuminate, narrowing into the grooved petiolate base leaves that blooms in the fall arising from the apex of the rhizome, short, globose-corymbose to cylindric, 4 to 8.4 [10 to 21 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence enveloped by tubular, inflated, avate, acute sheaths and carrying cauducous, elliptic-lanceolate, acute floral bracts.
