Orchid Species: Cirrhopetalum gagnepainii

Kew currently accepted name is Bulbophyllum flabellum-veneris

Cirrhopetalum gagnepainii is an orchid species identified by Guillaumin in 1964. Culture information and photos for this orchid are commonly detailed under the currently accepted name of Bulbophyllum flabellum-veneris.

ORIGIN: Found in Hainan China on tree trunks in dense forests at elevations around 900 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Miniature sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with .8 to 1.2 [2 to 3 cm] between each ovoid pseuduobulb and carrying a single, apical, coriaceous, obovate-lanceolate, to suboblong, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on a basal, to 6.8 [to 17 cm] long, umbellate, to 10 flowered inflorescence.
