ORIGIN: A small to medium sized, cold to warm growing, epiphytic species from Ecuador and northwestern Peru in wet forests at altitudes of 1200 to 2500 meters.

DESCRIPTION: A small to medium sized, cold to warm growing, epiphytic species from Ecuador and northwestern Peru in wet forests at altitudes of 1200 to 2500 meters with oval-oblong, compressed pseudobulbs carrying 2 apical, linear, acute, conduplicate below leaves that blooms on a terminal, sllender, arcuate to pendant, to 4' [120 cm] long, racemose, laxly many [100+] flowered inflorescence that arises from the apex of a new growth occurring from fall through spring. This species has crosses made with it but registered under the name Cochlioda sanguinea.
