Crocodeilanthe lehmanniana is an orchid species identified by (Schltr.) Luer in 2004. Culture information and photos for this orchid are commonly detailed under the currently accepted name of Stelis lehmanniana.
ORIGIN: Found in southern Colombia and northernmost Ecuador in cloud forests at elevations of 3000 to 3400 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Large sized, cold growing epiphyte with stout, fasciculate, erect ramicauls enveloped by a loose, tubular sheath near the middle and 2 to 4, large, loose, imbricating sheaths at the base and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, ovate, acute, cuneate to rounded and contracted below into the the conduplicate petiolate base leaf that blooms in the summer on a fascile of several, simultaneous, erect, congested, 6 to 8 [15 to 20 cm] long, simultaneously many flowered inflorescence arising through a broad spathe with an annulus at the apex of the ramicaul below the abscission layer.
