Orchid Species: Dendrobium carronii
(This name is currently accepted by Kew.)
Dendrobium carronii is an orchid species identified by Lavarack & P.J.Cribb in 1983.
ORIGIN: Found in Australia and Papua and New Guinea on Melaleuca trees 7 to 13' above the ground in swamps and open forests and occur at elevations of sea level to 500 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Miniature to small sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with short, swollen tapering pseudobulbs carrying 2 to 4, purplish, thick and semiterete leaves and blooms on 1 to 3 per growth, erect, 8 [20 cm] long, few to several [2 to 12] flowered inflorescence that arises from near the apex of the pseudobulb. This orchid has fragrant, long-lasting flowers and is closely related to Dendrobium canaliculatum.
