ORIGIN: Found in Tanzania, Malawi and Zambia in woodlands, grasslands and margins of watershed dambos at elevations of 1000 to 1650 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Small sized, cool growing terrestrial with subterranean, short chain-like, irregularily ellipsoid, tuberous organs giving rise to 1 to 3, erect, linear, acuminate, plicate, grasslike, partly developed at anthesis leaves that blooms in the later spring on an erect, 8 to 12 2 scarious sheathed, 2 to 190 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acuminate floral bracts and carrying rather bell shaped flowers.
