ORIGIN: Found in Nicaragua and Costa Rica at elevations of 600 to 1300 meters in disturbed cloud forests.

DESCRIPTION: Medium sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with unusually inflated flower bracts and color variable flowers that can happen throughout the year. This species is similar to M cucullata but is less heat tolerant.
