Oncidium carinatum is an orchid species identified by Knowles & Westc. in 1838. Culture information and photos for this orchid are commonly detailed under the currently accepted name of Leochilus carinatus.
ORIGIN: A miniature, twig epiphyte found in Mexico and Peru on small branches and twigs in scrubby bushes as well as coffee plantations and old citrus groves.
DESCRIPTION: A miniature, twig epiphyte found in Mexico and Peru on small branches and twigs in scrubby bushes as well as coffee plantations and old citrus groves with ovate to suborbicular, compressed pseudobulbs carrying 2, elliptic-lanceolate leaves that blooms mostly in the late winter through early summer with fragrant flowers on an erect, arching, 6 [15 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence with fragrant flowers that can form keikis after flowering from the nodes. This species is best mounted on treefern or cork with hot to cool temeratures, good air circulation and a lightly shaded location.
