ORIGIN: Found in Spain, France Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily, Switzerland, Italy, Yugoslavia, Albania, eastern Aegean Islands, Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria, Crimea, Tunisia and Algeria in garrigue, scrub and open woodlands at elevations up to 1700 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Miniature to small sized, cold growing terrestrial orchid with ovoid tuber carrying an erect stem carrying 2 to 8, basal in a rosette, often strongly blotched with violet, lanceolate to oblong-lanceolate leaves that blooms in the spring on a lax to dense, cylindric, many [7 to 20] flowered inflorescence with 1 to 3 veined, lanceolate bracts.
