ORIGIN: This miniature sized, cold growing terrestrial species is from Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia at elevations of 20 to 1000 meters occurring often in sandy, white pebble type soils at base of trees.

DESCRIPTION: This miniature sized, cold growing terrestrial species is from Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia at elevations of 20 to 1000 meters occurring often in sandy, white pebble type soils at base of trees with an erect, reddish stem carrying a narrowly linear, acute, basally clasping leaf and and blooms in the spring and summer on an erect, 2.4 to 7.2 [6 to 18 cm] long, successively 2 to 4 flowered inflorescence. The beak-like labellum is covered with dark purple shiny glands and snaps shut when touched and is pollinated by the male sawfly.
