Orchid Species: Pinalia flavescens
(This name is currently accepted by Kew.)
Pinalia flavescens is an orchid species identified by (Blume) Kuntze in 1891.
ORIGIN: Found in Malaysia, Java and Sumatra in wet montane forests at elevations around 1200 to 2100 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Miniature sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with .4 [1 cm] between each 3 noded, terete pseudobulb enveloped by brown sheaths and carrying 2, near the apex, deciduous, lanceolate, acute, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the winter on an erect, to 6 [15 cm] long, shortly pedunculate, reddish pubescent, 15 to 20 flowered inflorescence with very conspicuous floral bracts and carrying flowers with a sour smell.
FLOWER SIZE: 1/2 inch [1.25 cm]
