DESCRIPTION: A mini-miniature sized, densly tufted, cool to cold growing Costa Rican species found at 1400 to 2200 meters that has stout erect ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 loose tubular sheaths carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, oblanceolate, petiolate, mintuely tridentate apically leaf that gradually narrows into the petiole blooming on an erect, to 8 1/5 [to 21 cm] long, solitary flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul with a bract near the base and a tubular floral bract carrying the flowers at leaf height and occurring in the winter and summer.
