The honohono (Den. anosmum) season may be over but blooming now is Den. parishii. Den. parishii crossed with Den. anosmum made Den. Nestor. Here are photos of some parishii’s in bloom in my collection. (Article and photos submitted by Mel Waki)
Den. parishii var. alba. This is a first bloom for a seedling that came from a compot that I purchased from H&R Nurseries a couple of years ago.
Den. parishii var. semi-alba. This is a plant that I received from S&W Orchids. It is a first bloom with 8 flowers. The flowers have a slight fragrance.
Although tagged as Den. rhodopterygium, Den. parishii is the accepted species. This plant is a keiki that was given to me by the late Richard Takafuji of Orchid Center. The parent plant came from Tropical Orchid Farm on Maui.
