Mac of Mac's Orchids said he has killed a couple of them, and he's in Ft. Lauderdale. You might check with him to see if there is a warm growing plant that is similar.
HI Carol, many thanks for reaching out. I was at the Redlands show and tried to find it but no one had it. I will check with Lourens Grobler. But now you made me think twice as you indicated it is more intermediate, I am in the Miami area. In Brazil I used to grow it in the tropics but at an altitude of 2,500 feet above see level. If you see this plant in bloom you won't believe how beautiful it is. Best, Tom
Hi Tom, I was at the Redland Orchid Festival last weekend and met Lourens Grobler of Afri Orchids, South Africa. I just checked his catalog and he does have the Den wardianum listed: https://afriorchids.co.za/collections/orchids-d?page=3 I'm sure there is a way he could get it to you. Carol
Hi Tom, I called Mac of Mac's Orchids who sells Thai plants and he said he hasn't had luck growing wardianum because it is more intermediate and Mac is in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Mac suggested you try the Redland Orchid Festival, which was last weekend as there are 60 international growers or someone else who sells similar plants in a cooler area than here. Mac also said he thinks seed grown plants are the easiest to grow. Hope that helps. Carol
