Yellowish, green or black; winged and wingless forms; multiply rapidly and spread thickly; cause puncture wounds on blossoms and distortion of growth; suspected of spreading virus; sometimes tended by ants; spray with malathion or Sevin or pyrethrum. A73-714

APHIDS: Characteristics and Controls They feed on buds and flowers, are common on cymbidiums; winged forms can reinfest continually so systemic insecticides which last a month are preferred; use dimethoate (Cygon), Meta-systox and Temik.
