Sometimes called the 7-1-1-1 mix; 7 parts fir bark, 1 part peat moss (coarse or poultry peat), 1 part Palco wool, 1 part coarse perlite; it has a higher pH than the Off mix; seems to have a proper balance between aeration, drainage and water retention; to each ten cf. is added 3 lbs. bone meal, 2 to 3 lbs. pulverized limestone, 1/2 lb. tankage type fertilizer and 1/2 lb. of 5-10-5 fertilizer.
