ORIGIN: Found in Japan, Ryukyu Islands, Taiwan, Chinese Himalayas, Assam, eastern Himalayas, Myanmar, Nicobar Islands, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Borneo, Sumatra, Java and the Philippines in valleys on tall trees at elevations of 300 to 900 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Large to giant sized, hot to warm growing mycoheterotrophic orchid that climbs over dead trunks of trees in secondary lower montane forests and has a pale brown stem carrying red brown scale leaves when young at the nodes and blooms in the fall through spring on a gradually lengthening, many branching rhachis with many successively 2 flowers open at any one time and can flower as long as the food supply lasts [ie. dead tree].
