Orchid Species: Sudamerlycaste linguella

Sudamerlycaste linguella is an orchid species identified by (Rchb.f.) Archila in 2002.
ORIGIN: Found in Ecuador and Peru as a large sized, cold to cool growing terrestrial on steep embankments in very wet montane forests at elevations of 1800 to 2200 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Found in Ecuador and Peru as a large sized, cold to cool growing terrestrial on steep embankments in very wet montane forests at elevations of 1800 to 2200 meters with ovoid-conical, smooth pseudobulbs without spines after leaf fall and carrying 2 apical, ribbed, petiolate, deciduous leaves that blooms in the winter and spring on an erect, several at once, 4 [10 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with a few inflated sheathing bracts giving rise to a waxy, long-lasting, fragrant flower occurring in the winter. This species is closely related to Sudamerlycaste.
