ORIGIN: Found in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru at elevations of 2500 to 3850 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with when present, a basal rosette of 4 or so, linear-lanceolate, acute, gradually narrowing below into the elongate, petiolate base leaves and a single, erect, basal, lanceolate, glabrous, canaliculate into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the late summer and earlier fall on an erect, pubescent, subdensely several to many flowered inflorescence that is remotely 3 to 6, obliquely acute, decreasing in size upwards sheaths and with glabrous, ovate-cucullate, acute to subacuminate, shorter than the ovaries floral bracts and carrying non-resupinate flowers.
