Bollea whitei is an orchid species identified by (Rolfe) Schltr. in 1920. Culture information and photos for this orchid are commonly detailed under the currently accepted name of Pescatoria whitei.
DESCRIPTION: Text By Patrick Vuurman: Found in Colombia. The substance of this flower is substantial but significantly less than say Pescatoria lehmannii but more than say Cochleanthes amazonica. The plant conforms to the usual Bollea model in all respects from my limited experience. Healthy leaves are 12.4" [32 cm] long on this plant. In good humidity flowers last several days and usually occur in late spring or early summer. Flowers are very pleasantly fragrant starting early in the day and diminishing in the early afternoon with an aroma quite reminiscent of many of the Angreacum species. My other Pescatoria's are grown with constant moisture, in slotted plastic pots using sphagnum moss, in warm conditions under fluorescent lights about 60cm away. My experience suggests that these plants resent sitting in water.
FLOWER SIZE: 3 1/5 inches [8 cm]
