Orchid Species: Cirrhopetalum punctatissimum

Cirrhopetalum punctatissimum is an orchid species identified by Rolfe ex Ridl. in 1924. Culture information and photos for this orchid are commonly detailed under the currently accepted name of Bulbophyllum taeniophyllum.

ORIGIN: Found in southern Yunnan province of China, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Malaysia, Sumatra and Java on trees in dense forests at elevations of 800 to 1000 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Small sized, warm growing epiphyte that requires a tree fern mount to accomodate the rambling growth pattern, light shade, ample moisture and high humidity and has 2.2 between each ovoid-elliptic pseudobulb with an elliptic, obtuse, conduplicate below into the short petiolate base leaf that blooms in the late spring on a basal, 3.6 [9 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence with two to three well spaced bracts and holding the umbellate rachis with 10 flowers beneath the leaf.
