ORIGIN: Found in Portugal, Spain, Corsica, Sicily, Italy, Yugoslavia, Albania, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, Lebanon and Syria in damp woods, flushed slopes, montane marshy depressions at elevations up to 2000 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Small to large sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with slender, grooved at the tip stems carrying 4 to 12, erect to spreading, spotted above, obovate to elliptic leaves that blooms in the late spring to mid summer on an erect, terminal, 2.4 to 8.8 [6 to 22 cm] long, racemose, dense to near lax, 15 to 80 flowered inflorescence with bracts that are much longer than the flowers.
