ORIGIN: Found in Papua and New Guinea and Irian Jaya at elevations of 400 to 1600 meters in mist forests on high branches of solitary exposed trees near water.
DESCRIPTION: Large sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte with erect, sturdy stems carrying 4 to 6, oblong to elliptic, 2 ranked leaves clustered towards the apex and blooms in the spring, summer and fall on an axillary, erect to arching, 8 to 14 [20 to 35 cm] long, several to many [6 to 30] flowered inflorescence arising from the nodes near the apex of the cane.
FLOWER SIZE: 1.5 to 2 inches [3.75 cm to 5cm]
