ORIGIN: Found in Tungurahua Ecuador at elevations around 2100 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with erect, vaginate below several leaves above stem carrying, rigid, linear to linear-lanceolate, suberect, mucronate, slightly constricted 1/3 from apex leaves that blooms in the late spring on a subsessile, terminal, cylindric, suberect to acuate recurved, densely many flowered inflorescence with more or less spreading, lanceolate, long-acuminate floral bracts and carrying purplish, furfuraceous externally flowers that are hidden within the bracts.
