ORIGIN: Found in Nigeria, Burundi, Rwanda, Zaira, Ethiopia, Sudan, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Angola, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe and the Natal and Transvaal states of South Africa in grasslands at elevations of 1000 to 2300 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Medium to large sized, cool growing terrestrial with a chain of underground, potato-like pseudobulbs giving rise to 2 to 3, lanceolate, acute leaves that appear with or after blooming which is in the late spring and early summer on an erect, 6 to 14 [15 to 35 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence with all the resupinate flowers held towards the apex.
