ORIGIN: Found in the Chinese Himalayas, Sikkim, eastern Himalayas and Nepal in rain forests, bamboo and oak jungles in hot valleys and rhodedendron forests at elevations of 1500 to 3000 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Mini-miniature to small sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with a stout, glabrous stem enveloped by long, tubular, leaf-bearing sheaths and carrying thick, ovate-lanceolate, acute, upper surface green with a silver band on the mid rib, lower surface suffused with purple, narrowing below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the fall on an erect, secund, crowded, glabrous, 3 to 4.4 [7.5 to 11 cm] long, several to many flowered inflorescence with several, narrowly lanceolate, acuminate, overlapping bracts and lanceolate, acuminate, slightly longer than the ovary floral bracts.
