ORIGIN: Found in Zaire, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland, Cape Province, Natal, Orange Free State and Transvaal South Africa, Madagascar and Yemen in grass and bushlands often very dry, at elevations of 1650 to 2200 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Small to medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial orchid with a chain of flattened, subterranean pseudobulbs giving rise to 5 to 6 plicate, linear leaves arising with the terminal, few to many flowered inflorescence with widely spaced, often not opening well flowers occurring in the spring through fall.
