Gymnadenia faberi is an orchid species identified by (Rolfe) Rolfe in 1903. Culture information and photos for this orchid are commonly detailed under the currently accepted name of Ponerorchis faberi.
ORIGIN: Found in Sichuan, northern Guizhou and northern Yunnan provinces of China in forests, scrub, valleys, crevasses, alpine grasslands and grassy slopes at elevations of 2300 to 4300 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Mini-miniature to small sized, cold growing terrestrial with ovoid tubers giving rise to an erect stem carrying 1 to 2 tubular basal sheaths and carrying a single, cauline, porrect, linear-lanceolate to narrowly oblong-elliptic, acute or obtuse leaves that blooms in the summer on an erect, [1.5 to 8 cm] long, several to more than 10 flowered inflorescence with a sterile bract on the peduncle and ovate-lanceolate, much shorter than the ovary, acuminate apically floral bracts.
