Orchid Species: Isabelia violacea

Isabelia violacea is an orchid species identified by (Lindl.) C.Van den Berg & M.W.Chase in 2001.
ORIGIN: A small creeping, hot to cool growing epiphyte and occasional lithophyte found in the heavily shaded, mountainous humid forests of eastern Brazil at moderate elevations.
DESCRIPTION: A small creeping, hot to cool growing epiphyte and occasional lithophyte found in the heavily shaded, mountainous humid forests of eastern Brazil at moderate elevations with densely clustered, robust, oblong-fusiform or narrowly ovoid, basally 1 or 2 noded pseudobulbs carrying 1 to 2, apical, fleshy-coriaceous, linear, conduplicate, sharply acute, and minutely apiculate leaves that blooms on an erect, 2 [5 cm] long, shorter than the leaves, 1 or 4 flowered inflorescence that has acute, ovate bracts occurring in the late winter and spring in Brazil and late autumn through mid winter in cultivation.
