Orchid Species: Luisia psyche

Luisia psyche is an orchid species identified by Rchb.f. in 1863.
ORIGIN: Found in the eastern Himalayas, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand in primary, broad leafed, evergreen cloud forests on karst limestone at elevations of 400 to 1500 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Small to medium sized, monopodial, hot to cool growing epiphyte with an elongate stout stem carrying terete, basally clasping leaves and blooms in the spring through fall on a short, 1 to 2 flowered inflorescence with the foul smelling flowers held close to the leaf axil.
FLOWER SIZE: 1/2 inch [1.3 cm]
