ORIGIN: Found from Costa Rica to Ecuador in extremely wet, montane cloud forests as a small sized, hot to cool growing terrestrial orchid at elevations of 400 to 1700 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Found from Costa Rica to Ecuador in extremely wet, montane cloud forests as a small sized, hot to cool growing terrestrial orchid at elevations of 400 to 1700 meters with a recumbent stem enveloped by a few, acunimate sheaths and carrying a single, cordate, heavily veined, apical leaf that is dark red beneath and linear, white spotted above that blooms in the fall on a terminal, brown, 4 [10 cm] long, successively few flowered inflorescence with a few flowers opening over a period of time.
