Orchidotypus mexicanus is an orchid species identified by (Dressler & Hágsater) Senghas in F.R.R.Schlechter in 1995. Culture information and photos for this orchid are commonly detailed under the currently accepted name of Fernandezia mexicana.
ORIGIN: Found in Oaxaca & Guerrero states of Mexico in windy, cold, wet, evergreen cloud forests on tree trunks in mosses at elevations of 2500 to 2800 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Mini-miniature sized, cold growing epiphyte with a monopodial, simple to 2 laterally branched stem enveloped completely by imbricating leaf sheaths carrying distichous, articulate to the sheaths, somewhat fleshy, linear-elliptic to lanceolate, acute to acuminate leaves that blooms in the fall on 1 to 2, axillary, from the upper axils, short, 1 to 3 flowered inflorescence with 2 triangular floral bracts and very small, campanulate flowers.
