ORIGIN: Found in Portugal, Spain, France, Corsica, Sardinia, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Yugoslavia, Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Ukraine, Kazakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Syria, Israel, Jordan, Iraq and Iran in damp to marshy meadows, fens, streamsides and seepages at elevations up to 1600 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Medium sized, cold growing terrestrial orchid with ellipsoid or globose tubers carrying an erect stem with 3 to 8, lanceolate or linear leaves that blooms in the late spring and summer on a erect, 4 to 6 [10 to 15 cm] long, ovoid or cylydrical, loosely many [6 to 20] flowered inflorescence.
