ORIGIN: This medium to large sized, cool to cold growing species is from the Solomon Islands, Fiji, Samoa and Vanuatu in montane and cloud forests at altitudes of 450 to 3100 meters but are most common from 1500-2300 meters.

DESCRIPTION: This medium to large sized, cool to cold growing species is from the Solomon Islands, Fiji, Samoa and Vanuatu in montane and cloud forests at altitudes of 450 to 3100 meters but are most common from 1500-2300 meters with clustered, slender, spreading or pendant, basally lightly swollen, leafy towards the apex stems carrying many, distichous, lanceolate leaves. The bloom season is from late winter through spring and early summer on 1.8 [4.5 cm] long, few to several flowered racemes that arise axillary towards the apex of older leafless canes with 4 to 6 flowers and it is pollinated by birds.
