Pholidota kinabaluensis is an orchid species identified by Ames in 1920. Culture information and photos for this orchid are commonly detailed under the currently accepted name of Entomophobia kinabaluensis.
ORIGIN: Found in Borneo and central Sulawesi in lower to upper montane forest at elevations of 900 to 2300 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Medium to large sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte or on limestone rocks as a lithophyte with close set, obolong to ovate-oblong pseudobulbs envelope basally by several imbricate, scarious sheaths and carrying 2, apical, erect, coriaceous, linear, acute, 3 to 7 nerved, gradually narrowing below into the conduplicate, petiolate base leaves that blooms at any time of the year on a terminal, erect, somewhat compressed, slightly fractiflex rachis, [to 9.6 [24 cm] long, 15 to 42 flowered inflorescence that arises with a new growth and carries the distichous flowers all facing the same way.
