ORIGIN: Found in Burkino Faso, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Mali, Nigeria, Togo, Burundi, Central African Republic, Congo, Gabon, Rwanda, Zaire, Ethiopia, Sudan, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Angola, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Swaziland, Natal and Transvaal South Africa in grasslands and open woodlands at elevations of sea-level to 2700 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Small to large sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with ellipsoid tubers giving rise to a stem carrying numerous, lanceolate, acuminate, densely velvety hairy leaves that blooms in the spring and early summer on a terminal, erect, densely many fowered, to 14 [to 35 cm] long, racemose inflorescence with bracts similar to the leaves and carrying pubescent, sweet soapy scented flowers.
